About Geno and Norwegian Red

Headquartered in Hamar, Norway, Geno has been developing and producing the Norwegian Red genetics, a high-yielding dairy breed developed in Norway since the company was founded in 1935. Globally, Norwegian Red has been at the forefront of health and fertility traits due to the inclusion of health and fertility in Geno's breeding program since the 1970s, which has also contributed to the low use of antibiotics in dairy cattle. Geno’s balanced breeding goal has, therefore, resulted in excellent production combined with world-leading performance in health and fertility traits.

Today, in more than 30 countries, Geno has increased health, fertility, and component yields with its Norwegian Red breed, thereby giving dairy farmers more sustainable, robust, and profitable cows.
