Norwegian Red is delighted to join hands with other proud contributors to the Norwegian dairy industry in celebrating a momentous win at the 2023 World's Best Cheese Awards.
The World Cheese Awards, organized by the Guild of Fine Food and in its 35th edition, took place at a prestigious ceremony on October 27 in Trondheim, Norway. The event recognized the remarkable accomplishment of Nidelven Blå, a delicate cheese crafted by the renowned artisan Gangstad Gårdsysteri, who also raises their dairy cattle with Norwegian Red genetics.
Kate Stai, CEO of Geno Global, commented on Gangstad Cheesemaker's victory, stating, "We are proud of Gangstad Gårdsysteri's remarkable achievement and their trust in Norwegian Red genetics, which has played a role in their success. Norwegian Red aims to be the top choice for dairy cattle genetics among elite cheesemakers worldwide, and its popularity has been steadily growing globally."
A Collective Triumph: Honoring Dedication and Expertise
Gangstad Gårdsysteri, a cheese producer with a legacy dating back to 1998, took the spotlight with their masterpiece, Nidelven Blå. This artisanal cheesemaker and dairy farm, processing 300,000 liters of milk annually, has become synonymous with quality in the Norwegian dairy sector. Their expertise isn't limited to cheese as they’ve also mastered 15 unique ice cream flavors, earning them a respected place in the local dairy market.
Gangstad Gårdsysteri's reach extends further, as they are a vital part of "Den Gylde Omvei" (the golden detour), a joint effort by 20 local companies promoting regional produce.
Norwegian Red: Preferred Genetics for Global Dairy Productions
As the outstanding quality of Norwegian Red genetics is evident in the success of Nidelven Blå and other dairy products by Gangstad Gårdsysteri, internationally, crossbreeding with Norwegian Red genetics has also gained global acclaim among cheesemakers for their adaptability and the ideal balance of fat and protein, a crucial aspect in crafting exceptional cheeses.
“This victory isn't just about awards; it symbolizes the dedication of farmers, the skill of artisans, and the outstanding contribution of Norwegian Red genetics. It also solidifies our commitment to global dairy excellence, firmly establishing Norwegian Red as the preferred choice for elite cheesemakers and dairy farmers worldwide," added Stai.
